PSIII-A-4 Analysis of Galectin Gene Variants from Diverse Sheep and Goat Populations Genotyped with the Illumina Beadchip

Abstract Galectins are a highly conserved family of β-galactoside binding lectins encoded by lectin, galactosidebinding soluble genes (LGALS). They found on variety cells and tissues vertebrates invertebrates. In this study, we investigated galectin single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) five distinct from different geographical regions Ethiopia. A total 88 (Arsi-Bale=12, Horro=24, Menz=18, Wolayita=18 Blackhead Somali=16) were genotyped with Ovine Infinium HD SNP BeadChip (600K).
